Acrylic paints can be used on a wide range of surfaces, including canvas, wood, paper, cardboard, clay, ceramic, fabric, metal, glass, plastic, and even some hard surfaces such as stone.

When choosing a surface for acrylic painting, it is important to consider its porosity, texture, and readiness to accept paint. For example, smoother and non-porous surfaces such as metal or glass may require some preparation, such as applying a primer or sanding, to ensure better adhesion of the paint. Some surfaces, such as fabric, may also require fixing after painting to prevent the paint from rubbing off.

Helpful Hints

acrylic paper

Acrylic paper has many advantages.
One important factor is that it’s cheap – depending on the type of paper you buy, it can be a lot more affordable than canvas.
It’s also relatively light and portable compared to other options, which is especially useful if you want to paint outside.

Even if you want to paint on canvas later, acrylic paint paper can also serve as an inexpensive way for you to experiment with colors and patterns before you paint the final picture.
This can save you a lot of money if you want to practice your design before applying it to an expensive piece of canvas.

Canvas is one of the most common materials for acrylic painting.
The canvas should be stretched on a frame to prevent surface deformation.
Wood and cardboard can also be good materials for painting with acrylics,
but they may be less durable and more susceptible to damage than canvas.

If you want to make a beautiful and even frame around the edges of your picture, then it is most convenient to use tape.

Make a flat horizon line?

Just tape it so as not to spoil the image!

Where is the use of tape? You can watch the tutorial in these videos.

But there is one special thing when you use it with paper!

When using tape with paper, first tear off the piece that you want to stick and stick and tear it to the clothes several times.
The tape will remain on the paper, but it won’t stick tightly and won’t damage your drawing when you tear it off.

I have some bad examples when I peeled off the tape and ruined my painting, I will show them in these videos ➦
